Building transparency in an environment of accelerating change

The pace of change at UBC has been accelerating. When a lot of big pieces begin to move, it can be easy to focus on the task at hand and worry about helping everyone understand later. Nevertheless, we all know as things get busy the chance to speak with each other sometimes never comes.

I want to make certain we give those important conversations a chance to happen. I want my portfolio to share with the people of UBC what we’re doing on their behalf, consult with them whenever we can, and ask for their help wherever appropriate.

I know that a newsletter is not a cure-all for change, consultation, or communication. But it is one of the first steps we can take to improve transparency and help everyone have a better shared understanding.
